It’s rare for a mentor to be able to hire or work with a former student, but I was truly happy to be able to do just that, with the hiring of Mr. Terrence vanDoorn. After mentoring Terrence through his years at the Academy of Art University it was a delight to continue to see his growth as a Senior Art Director at Carol H Williams Advertising.
While working as my right hand on multiple projects for both Kaiser Permanente and JP Morgan Chase, he not only displayed evolved skills as an art director, UX/UI designer and creative thinker/conceptualist, he also showed his leadership skills by guiding the younger creatives through each phase of said projects. Those leadership skill also earned him the responsibility of presenting to both upper management and the always pressure packed client presentations of which he glided through with the professionalism and calmness of a seasoned veteran.
All-in-all it was an extremely delightful experience having Terrence on the team, both as a talented creative and as just an overall cool dude to provide energy, inspiration and fun to the agency. As he moves on, I’m sure he’ll provide all of the above and more to whatever creative endeavor comes next and they will be happy to have him aboard as I have.

I had the pleasure of building many ad campaign elements under Terrence's guidance.
